Yea, Yea, Just update your computer with Windows Update. It won’t slow it down very much. I bet you won’t even notice.

If you have not heard already there is a vulnerability in certain processors exploited by side channel analysis attacks (also known as “Meltdown” and “Spectre”). This issue also affects other systems, such as Android, Chrome, iOS, and MacOS. Therefore, we advise to seek guidance from those vendors. If you are still wondering give us a call. The problem goes far beyond the leaking of sensitive emails and sexy selfies. Targeted attacks against small businesses nearly doubled in 2013. And of the one in five that experience a cyber attack annually, 60% will close their doors within six months as a result.

But not you. Protect your business.

1. Be password-savvy. If your password is still “Password123,” it’s time to get serious. Create unique codes for each of your accounts, and make sure they’re at least 8 characters long (with a few special ones thrown in). Two-factor authentication is also suggested for items offering this option..

2. Encrypt emails and valuable information. If a hacker does breach your system, encryption makes it that much harder to get away with critical data.

3. Back up your data. Copying your key company data onto a cloud-based system, such as a cloud server (we offer this), or a USB hard drive takes minutes, and will save you time and anxiety if your system is ever compromised.

We are always surprised how many people aren’t concerned about their security. The “I’m too small, the hackers won’t bother with me” mentality is just incorrect.

They are coming for you because you’re small and they know you don’t have security like banks do.
